Overview
We designed a new type of child cord lock on behalf of our client, which would be tested against the updated European Standards for internal window blinds. We developed designs using the latest Solid Edge/Autodesk 3D CAD and created prototypes in Fortus 360 printer using ABS plastic. These were proved and met the regulation standard. Our client has subsequently obtained a patent on the design.

Results
- Challenge
The client relied on us to advise on all technical issues throughout the prototyping and development process and to liaise with the relevant authorities and test bodies with regards to product certification. The transition from this phase to production was made simple by our in-depth knowledge of the product.
- Solution
We developed designs using the latest software and created prototypes in Fortus 360 printer using ABS plastic. These were tested at an approved test house and met the regulation standard.
- Outcome
We completed this project efficiently and met the client’s planned timescales. Our ability to help drive the project from concept through to the final product manufacture ensured this time was minimised. Our client has subsequently obtained a patent on this design and the component has entered full production.
