• Challenge

  The original steel cylinder mounts were heavy and bulky, making them less efficient and resource-intensive. No off-the-shelf solution met the project’s space, safety, and performance requirements. The existing design was assessed against load and stress performance, weight, retraction capability, and manufacturability to establish a baseline for improvement.

• Solution

  The design was reimagined as a compact, lightweight aluminium cylinder mount. Working closely with our customer’s design team, we reduced material use, improved sustainability, and maintained the necessary strength and reliability. The mount was optimized for smooth operation and unobtrusive integration within the stairlift system. Precision manufacturing across 5-axis machining centres ensured consistent, high-quality production.

• Outcome

  The redesigned mount enhances user safety and overall experience. Its lightweight, compact form blends seamlessly within the stairlift system while delivering consistent, long-term performance. The new design combines sustainability, precision engineering, and ease of use, setting a new standard for stairlift components.
