Overview
Our client came to us with an idea, giving us the creative freedom to design, develop and manufacture an innovative mobile kiosk. Our distinctive hexagonal design incorporates both self-serve via a screen interface and the option of placing a bet with cashier. To date, we’ve delivered 12 kiosks, which take up regular pitches at the likes of York Racecourse, Aintree, Cheltenham, Chelmsford and Goodwood.

- Challenge
Our customer came to us with an idea for an innovative mobile kiosk. Existing designs were proving cumbersome to move around and install within and between sites. We were briefed to design, develop and manufacture a contained unit kiosk that would be easy to transport, assemble and disassemble, and creative freedom with the aesthetics. Our customer was also keen people should have options on how to place a bet.
- Solution
We researched and developed conceptual ideas using Solid Edge\Autodesk CAD and created a fibreglass and wood prototype of an 8ft hexagonal betting kiosk. Inside, there was room for two cashiers, with four cashless screen terminals on the exterior. Unexpectedly, we were asked to test it in the field, so we skinned it with plastic and fabric and took it to the York and Leicester races. Learnings from this were used to refine the designs so we could take it to the manufacturing stage.
- Outcome
To date, we’ve built 12 kiosks out of GRP composite aluminium panelling mounted on a steel base. We’ve trained the client how to install and maintain them. The kiosks are used at the likes of York Racecourse, Aintree, Cheltenham, Chelmsford and Goodwood. The quick assembly means they can be located - manually - anywhere on the racecourse.
